Guest Speakers Yvette Lewis Yvette Lewis is an American political executive and activist serving as the chair of the Maryland Democratic Party. Lewis assumed the role in December 2019, succeeding acting chair Cory V. McCray. Lewis has previously served as chair of the party from 2011 to 2015 Ms. Lewis was a superdelegate at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. And among her many talents she is also a professional opera singer. Jesse Garcia Mr. Jesse Garcia became the LULAC State Director for the District of Columbian in 2020. He has been recognized for his civil rights work in Dallas (named the Grand Marshal of the Dallas LGBT Pride Parade in 2009) and most recently in Washington, DC (recognized as a Capital Pride Hero in the DC LGBT Pride Parade in 2018). Mr. Garcia was appointed to the Obama Administration in Washington, DC, where he served the President as a special assistant in HHS Administration for Children and Families’ communications office.J
